DSI works with Tallahassee Community College, Jefferson, Madison, and Taylor Counties on Innovative Active Shooter Exercise

TALLAHASSEE, FL -  DSI is pleased to announce that the company has successfully completed a comprehensive School Safety Active Shooter Exercise for the school districts of Jefferson, Madison, and Taylor Counties.  This event was sponsored by the Florida Public Safety Institute in Tallahassee.  To conduct an effective exercise, subject matter experts (SMEs) and local representatives from several agencies (School Districts, Sheriff’s Offices, and other first responders) have taken part in the planning process and also took part in exercise conduct and evaluation.  Exercise development and supporting documentation was produced with input, advice, and assistance from the exercise planning team, which followed the guidance set forth in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).  The Jefferson, Madison, and Taylor Counties’ Active Shooter Situation Manual provided exercise participants with all the necessary tools to carry out their role in the exercise. The Jefferson, Madison, and Taylor Counties’ Active Shooter Exercise was designed to establish a learning environment for players to exercise their plans and procedures for responding to an active shooter incident.

DSI CEO Joseph Myers commented after the exercise, which was attended by over 120 local school, law enforcement and other first response agencies and management.  “This event was yet another example of teamwork in an area of critical importance in our state and country—school safety.  The people of Madison, Jefferson, and Taylor counties should know that their children are being entrusted to leadership that care—and care deeply about their great asset.”
