HAYWARD WALKER

Chief of Homeland Security Services

 

Upon his retirement from the Leon County, Florida Sheriff’s Office in 2012, Mr. Walker joined the DSI leadership team as our Chief of Homeland Security Services. Mr. Walker oversees all homeland security services and offerings, including Active Shooter Training and Exercises, including school safety; law enforcement tactical training, security assessments, and planning; and other criminal justice initiatives.  As a well-respected member of Florida’s law enforcement community, Mr. Walker has over 35 years of professional experience, mostly with the Leon County, Florida Sheriff’s Office.  At this large and fully-accredited agency, Walker served in major leadership roles in uniform patrol, investigations, administration, and law enforcement operations.

Walker’s responsibilities included all law enforcement functions, uniform patrol, investigations, emergency management, homeland security, special weapons and tactics, hazardous device team, dive team, air support, k-9, and special events. Mr. Walker also served as Acting Co-Chair for the Florida Domestic Security Task Force and Acting Co-Chair to the Domestic Oversight Council for Region #2.  He held Security Clearance from the United States Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

This wealth of experience and network of professionals statewide and nationwide enables him to be a reliable expert in all of these critical and high liability areas. He also has the ability to turn ideas into action and build consensus with a wide variety of stakeholders.
