Mr. Hinkel serves DSI as a Senior Consultant responsible for assisting DSI’s clients with their emergency management and disaster recovery assessments, plans, documentation, exercises, and any other administrative need. Mr. Hinkel previously served as the County Administrator for Taylor County, Florida, where he was directly responsible to the Board of County Commissioners for the leadership, planning, and execution of the day-to-day operations of the County’s departments. Prior to his appointment as County Administrator, Mr. Hinkel served as Emergency Management Director for Taylor County and led the County’s public safety team in its response and recovery from Tropical Storm Debby, Deepwater Horizon, and numerous local and regional emergencies.
In addition to his role as Senior Consultant, Mr. Hinkel also represents DSI in its pursuit of Emergency Management, Homeland Security, and Government Administration opportunities at the local, regional, state, and federal levels. Mr. Hinkel is the recipient of multiple national, state, and local public safety, project management, and administrative certifications. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida, College of Arts and Sciences, with a Bachelor’s of Science with a focus in Environmental Policy and a Master’s of Arts with a focus in Natural and Technological Hazards Geography. Mr. Hinkel lives in Tallahassee, Florida with his wife, Sarah, and son.
